When you go on holiday the last thing you want is to lose all of the travel money that you have taken with you. What you want is to have a care free time and enjoy yourself not be stressed because now you can’t afford to eat or go and do anything.
It is easy for you to lose your travel money. You may misplace it or it could even be stolen by some unscrupulous individual. It is important to do as much as possible to try and avoid either of these situations as you can end up in some real trouble if you are not careful.
One way to protect your money is to make sure that you only ever take as much as you need with you whilst you are out and about. The rest of your money should be let in the safe in your hotel room. This way if your happen to lose your wallet/purse or if it is stolen, then you will only lose the money that you had taken with you that day, rather than everything that you had brought with you on holiday.
Another way to protect your money is to use a travel money card. These are prepaid Mastercards that allow you to load them up with a foreign currency such as dollars. They are chip and pin protected which mean that if someone else happens to get hold of this card and tries to use, they would need to know your pin to be able to use the money. Another benefit of travel money cards is that if anyone else does happen to get hold of it, they can only use as much money as is loaded up on the card. This is a much better scenario than using your main credit or debit card, where the thief could potentially have access to thousands of pounds of your money.
